CRA -- RAC down partially ****AND THEY HAVE A NOTIFICATION! ****

Well, isn’t this a delight…?

They actually have a nofication up saying that they’re having problems…that’s gotta be a first! (Can’t remember ever seeing one previously except during the COVID hacks.)

Weird, have no problem with access…

Access is OK but it barfs during use. Tried to do a few things (like file a GST return…) and it crapped out and booted me.

I have found the SIN area to be reasonalby normal but have also had some issues on the BN area.

yes it has been like that for quite some time but for the past two days functioning fine.

I called Processing Review yesterday about noon but the agent couldn’t do the verification process because she couldn’t access that part of the system. She told me to call again another day. I’m trying again today (Thursday) but from the comments here, it doesn’t sound too hopeful.

Since they did the last maintenance I can get in fine but trying to get
some information is problematic. At one point in trying to look at
corporate account it kicked me to GST??? And several other placed
it had an error message. Bodes well for tax season

I’ve seen that warning message all week. Most things work, but there are occasional glitches, as you’ve noticed.

The inability to get T-slips for clients is frustrating. I’ve had a couple clients (personal and corporate) say their bank wants copies of T4’s. We downloaded the slips when preparing the T1’s but did not get paper copies from the client for 2023. Now we can’t get a copy. Perhaps there’s a security risk to hide info from hackers but isn’t CRA admitting that they have no effective solution to their lack of security ?

Just refresh the page and the slips show up

Thanks. This must be a recent fix. I tried yesterday afternoon and couldn’t see this info.

It’s been a weird workaround since late last week. Doesn’t work for everything, and doesn’t do anything on the corporate side but at least we aren’t flying totally blind on the slips now!

It appears that the record of Capital Gains & Losses has disappeared from RAC. Or am I looking in the wrong place?

Thanks,

Refresh (F5) and they will magically appear.

Canada Revenue Agency - Online Service Questionnaire available.
See this link to give the CRA your feedback about their service.

Clearly they have paid a lot of attention to these in the past because their service and website has “improved” SO MUCH in recent years.

If it continues to “improve” at this pace RAC (and their services) will be totally unusable in …oh…three years?

I took some time to complete the Service Questionnaire linked by @charles.

I know these service feedback things are usually just to placate the users but they need the feedback. CRA figured they’d save so much time and money having users do so much more on-line. What a disaster that’s become. They make these big changes to their system with no advance warning and don’t even ask the users if the changes would even help.

I did as well.

My main beefs were the forcing of a business to have a My Business Account in order to authorize a Rep and the pain we have to go through when we have to call the CRA. I try not to have to but on the occasionally necessary times I can’t believe how long it takes to accomplish even the simpilest of tasks.

I agree @Arliss. My three big items were
a) the ridiculous phone situation, I suggested a special line for representatives where you have to give your REP ID to get through.
b) the My Business Account (I have business clients who don’t use/trust the web and as a result, I, as their representative, am effectively not allowed to get information from CRA), and
c) I wish the Processing Review people would pick up the phone and call if there is something straight-forward that can help clear up their review. Otherwise, they deny or limit the claim. it’s a waste of my time and theirs to resubmit information;

One thing I cannot do is submit the Will for a deceased taxpayer to update the estate trustee as the legal representative. I go through the “Submit documents” steps and then get “Information not available at this time”. It only works if I am already authorized on the deceased taxpayer’s account. Previous to the CRA update it did not matter if I was already authorized or not. I called CRA last week to let them know of the issue. The agent said I would receive a call back, but I never did.
