Workflows for Client Delivery

Hi there,

I’m wondering if it’s possible to create a new workflow for the Client Delivery section called: “Client phoned to pickup records” or something like that.

If it’s ever possible to create custom workflows in the future, that would be amazing too!!

This is our first year of using Tax Cycle and we’re loving it so far, just a lot of initial setup.

Why not just use the current one that is there it says client collect return, we use that one.

You can also click on the note icon beside each workflow item and enter a custom note here if you would like additional detail in your file.

I have also always wanted to create a short list of my 5 or 6 workflow items that are all shown together. It’s easier for me to track that short list in one spot (although it is good to be able to enter short notes for each item, too).

It’s probably on Cameron’s list, but not high priority…

Creating a tool that would allow custom workflows is not a small task. Each workflow item is tightly integrated with a specific set of parameters/triggers which determine the status of that workflow item. The workflow status is also tightly integrated with the Client Manager.

This is definitely on our list to look at. Currently we are focused on a number of other higher priority items, such as the launch of TaxFolder to support e-signatures.

Some of the things we would need more feedback on are:

  • Do you want to add items simply for manual tracking or do you also want to be able to attach specific triggers to determine the status of that item?

  • Do we need a way to show this status in the Client Manager?

  • Do you want to be able to change the order of the various sections or tasks within a section?

  • Do you want to to be able to set conditions for when a workflow item appears? For example in another thread someone mentioned wanting an item for the DTC credit - so show if DTC credit is applicable.

Let me know how you would like it to work. I will compile the feedback from this and other posts from the community.

Fair enough! I thought I would mention it anyways though.

Our firm, and like many others I’m sure, are using piles of different spreadsheets and programs to track various tasks in the office. I would love to be able to push as much of that into a single piece of software to track everything related to our tax clients. For example, let’s say a T1 client is self employed with a GST number, I’d love to be able to track the status of their GST return right there, instead of in a separate spreadsheet like we currently do. We also track a fair bit of information related to Estates (e.g. whether returns have been assessed, clearance status etc.), and are currently doing this through spreadsheets and other software.

to your questions:

I was thinking I might use some of those custom workflows to be able to pull reports in the client manager, and possibly link to templated letter etc.
