Submitting a signed authorization request on Represent a client

Hello,

Is anyone else getting an error when trying to upload a signed CRA authorization request on Represent A Client for client that do not have My Account? The error comes after entering the SIN. Error code is REP56. Verify the number. I called CRA over a month ago and they are working on the issue. Called again today an they are still working on it. Our good ole revenue agency. Problem originated after system maintenance in October.

Same thing with the business ones. Comes up with errors - still not fixed

Thanks Jason. Good to know.

Why not just use the built in functionality of Taxcycle for the process? Or am I missing something?

I don’t use TaxCycle.

I tried the business one on Wednesday, still not fixed.

Oh really?!? Perfect reason to get you to TRY IT then, huh?

FYI - this forum is owned by Trilogy - makers of TaxCycle. It’s open to anyone, but I’m sure it helps to promote their product…

Therein lies the problem.

Is anyone still getting an issue in adding an Authorization Request? I’m trying to add authorization for two Clients and keep getting this error ‘The information provided does not match our records (T900)’. The information I am entering our correct though.

Any error at all will kick it out. If your client’s name is Joe P. Clark and you omitted the period after “P”, that’s sufficient to kick it out. Or, Clarke instead of Clark. I used to call ahead and guess at the details until the rep agreed with my last guess. Probably can’t do that now.

Enter the name exactly as shown on their latest NOA or NORA.

I did enter the info as per their NOA like check letter by letter but still getting the same error message…

Weird thing to suggest, but have you tried another browser or an incognito window. I’ve weirdly had that work when CRA’s website is throwing up errors to info I know to be correct.

If the clients have access to their CRA accounts, they can log in and add you themselves as a rep there as well, I do believe.

I tried the incognito window but its still showing the same error.

I had a client who lived in a community called “Centreville”. That is the correct spelling and all with Canada Post. Every year CRA would reject “Centreville” and say it did not exist. Thought persistence, I found out that someone at CRA end had entered it as “Centreville.” When I added the dot to the community’s name, CRA was happy and I could file. Canada Post could not care if there was a dot or not.

Maybe it is some silly thing like that.

In the last year or so, I’ve had more trouble with these, myself. I have found, often, that you have to add the middle initial IN THE FIRST NAME BOX. For example, if the name is “John A Macdonald”, I would enter “John A” in the first name box, leave the middle initial box blank, and enter the last name as normal.

I tried 7 different clients and every single time got the same error. Called
CRA… clueless
