CRA login issues

Something seems to have changed recently. I think it is on CRA’s end, but not sure. Until a few days ago, I could be logged in to RAC (with my default browser - Chrome), and when running AFR from TaxCycle, it would not need me to re-enter my CRA login credentials. Now, at least once a day, I have to re-enter my login credentials during the AFR process. Then, also, my earlier login to RAC (open in another browser tab) gets logged out. But, if I do a second (or further) AFR, even for a different client, it DOESN’T require the additional login.

Has anyone else seen this behaviour?

I have never tried having RAC open and downloading from AFR at the same time. Mine requires a login for the initial AFR but if I don’t close the tabs I can download as many AFR’s for different clients as I want without it being logged out and so requiring the credentials again.

Same here.

I do AFR all the time when I have RAC open on another tab. Normally there is no problem. However, if the AFR gets messed up for whatever reason (normally trying to AFR for a child for whom I don’t have authorization yet), then I have to get out of the RAC tab, too, and re-enter my login credentials for that. Also, it seems if you are logged into CRA all day, it will log you out after about 8 hours. It must belong to the Public Service Union.

Yes to all of it.
It started just after a TaxCycle update.
I’ve been waiting for a fix. But maybe it’s CRA.

There’s another glitch on RepAClient where when you click on a client’s client data enquiry, it would show “taxpayer does not have direct deposit.” I would then have to close the entire browser then open client data enquiry, then it shows additional information. This happens every day!! It’s something that pisses me off.

Yes, I’ve seen that kind of thing for months now (maybe over a year?). I find that often I don’t have to close my browser - just navigate to another page or area under that client’s CRA account, then navigate back. Or hit refresh (i.e. F5) etc. But, sometimes nothing works - not even restarting the browser. So, that’s definitely something on CRA’s end.

Confirmed this is something on CRA’s end, I am having the same experience as you, along with some fellow colleagues of mine.

Curious - I NEVER have that. I open RAC, set my “autorefresh” extension on Firefox for a 5-min time limit and then ignore it for the next 8 hours. Upload, download, check things, AFR, whatever…never skips a beat unless CRA is actually screwed up, which does happen occasionally but for the most part…never an issue for me.

That’s what I mean - I do the same, and it always worked well until a few days ago. Something changed. But, not for you @SmallBizGuy ?

I worked that way on Thursday and part of Friday - Chrome extension enabled from a Windows 2016 server. No issue at all. Maybe either a Chrome or Windows update broke the extension?

Interesting, since @wem @clayton @Deepinthemoneycall and myself are all experiencing this new problem. Are you saying you HAVEN’T done the latest Windows or Chrome updates?

I’m running Chrome 126.0.6478.127 on a Windows 2016 Server on Azure (Version 1607, Build 14393.7070). The extension I’m using is “Tab Reloader” ver 0.6.3 and it’s been running now for several hours today with me being off and on, working and not, for the past 4-5 hours or so. No issue at all.

I’ve done some RAC work, some AFRs (corp), switched between several accounts, filed some GST returns, and also ignored it completely while doing other things.

All systems say they are “up to date” (whatever that means to Microsoft and Google, LOL.)

And, yes, I have 99 problems…but that ain’t one of them!

I’m running the same versions of Chrome and Tab Reloader, but on Windows 10 Pro. Today, that problem seems to be cured - I ran a T1 AFR and it did not require me to enter my CRA credentials, nor did it log me out of RAC on the “Tab Reloaded” tab.

Hope it stays that way.

Meanwhile MS Office had me pulling my hair out today - it wanted me to “Restart Office to apply privacy settings”, which message went away only after I logged out of the Office apps (Outlook, Excel, etc), rebooted, and logged back in to any of the Office apps. Then it decided it was no longer a licensed version!?!? Spent a couple hours troubleshooting. Had to set up a new email address in the MS 365 account (online) and share Office with this new “family member”. GRRR

This problem is back again! Same as before - T1 AFR requires me to log in to CRA even though I am already logged in. After completing the download, when I get to the page that says you can “close this tab”, without actually CLOSING any tabs, CRA has logged me out on both tabs. I’m sure this is some new security feature implemented by CRA, but I’d like to confirm I’m not the only one seeing it. Anyone else?

I find the same thing intermittently.

I’ve also found recently that the RAC page keeps kicking me out, despite having a reloader setup for the page. It is a true PITA to keep logging back in.

Today… I was logging in and then attempted to do some work on a client file but it timed out as I got interrupted.

Then it would freeze… over and over… restarted computer, cleared browser Cache, etc…

Finally… when the 8 hours had elapsed it let me log in…and there I have know filed an HST return…

The Improvements are definitely NOT.

What I also found was that when printing corporate account transactions, their system would get stuck on a period and I wouldn’t be able to change that period unless I rebooted my computer.

I hate to suggest it because we have no affordable housing, but you all need to move to Nova Scotia. My RAC works fine. As does AFR. I’m in Dartmouth, using Bell internet. Also works fine in Halifax using Eastlink. 2018 Lenovo T580 with Windows 11 Pro. What else can I say? Federal politicians think Canada ends at the eastern border of Quebec, and if they do acknowledge that we exist, we’re seen as a bunch of lazy, welfare-dependent, inbred, toothless morons, who quit school at 14 after graduating grade 3, and we can’t string 4 words together to form a sentence. But hey, for the two of us who can manage, the CRA website works for us.
