CAPTCHA on RAC when using Azure server

Bit of an odd thing here with RAC. When I log on from a PC I have no issue at all. When I log on from my Azure server (where all client data is stored and from where I file/AFR from TaxCycle), the first time I log in I always get a CAPTCHA, most of which are impossible to view properly…but eventually work.

This occurs PRIOR TO the grid verification queries.

Anyone else have this? … it’s very annoying and has now been happening for the past few months.

Are you on VPN…try turning VPN off.

Point-to-Site VPNs from PCs into Azure…but not outbound (at least not by me).

Outbound IP is 4.x.x.x which is part of a “known proxy” for Microsoft (4.192.0.0/10).

CRA E-services says “It’s not us”. So likely they use Cloudflare or some such service and it picks up on the Azure gateway as a proxy and demands an anti-bot response. The stupid thing is that CAPTCHAs are now easily defeated by smart bots and have been for quite a while.

There is a short-term workaround available, but it’s for accessibility issues and only lasts 24 hours at a time. So not really useful.

What is the workaround? Can you do it again in 24 hours or is it a one off?

See the PM sent.
