Nothing to fix likely other than having the clients name(s) match existing CRA records.
Jeremy has a good solution to try name variations to help figure out what is needed.
Just an FYI - I had the same error and called CRA to discover that ANY issue with the authorization (first name wrong, last name wrong, SIN wrong), will result in an “invalid SIN” error message. So, that’s helpful.
And if you think about it, that makes sense really. Because for all we know there could be someone else with a similar name or different spelling etc. that would obviously have a different SIN. CRA wouldn’t know if the first name or last name was wrong, only that the SIN number that you entered for a given first name/last name combo is wrong.
If they provided an error that said only first name is wrong, then that would imply that there was someone out there with that given LAST name with the given SIN and then CRA just gave away two pieces of a puzzle.
I am getting this error code also t859 I have checked the name and the sin# I have also checked the clients last tax year she filed 2019 to see if it was miss filed but everything is good. does anyone have any ideas?
Just a thought… Check the spelling of the name and also try with and without the middle initial
Possible you left out an initial - middle name - check the notice of assessment and follow that structure.
