AFR always needs two attempts

AFR always needs two attempts

First attempt always gives:

I was having that problem so started using a page refresher or tab reloader for the CRA website. Now the site is open all day or until I close it.

I keep telling you, move to Nova Scotia. My AFR works fine. I just follow the prompts. Click AFR at the top of the screen, it goes to CRA, logs in, I click “don’t ask for 8 hrs” for the 6-digit code, hit next when the SIN screen comes up, click “log out of CRA” on the next screen, close the browser tab. Back to TaxCycle & see what kind of hell I’m dealing with this year.

@obhorst what page refresher do you use?

I am not sure - I went to the google store and found a number of them - I think I selected one with many users. it just shows as page refresher. I like the way it works - its simple to turn on and off.

Thank you. I will have a look at google store

It does not seem to be a tab reload issue - this is new behavior (started a few weeks ago).
— and, I’ve been using a tab refresher for many years to stay logged in to CRA all day.
(Presently “Auto reload tab” for firefox)

I guess I’ll just have to gas up the car for that 8,000 km drive to Nova Scotia…

You must be coming from Tuktoyaktuk. Doesn’t matter. You’re welcome here.

There are two modes to download AFR data from the CRA. Under Options, navigate to “TaxCycle / Transmission / E-Services”. By default, service mode is selected. Can you please try deselecting this option and trying again?

Downloading AFR (and eNOA) data is time-sensitive. By default, TaxCycle tries to get the current time from the Internet. Another option, if the time on your local computer is correct, is to deselect the “Use an Internet Time Server”.

Based on the error, I have assumed that you are successfully logging into the CRAs website and then proceeding to the download of your client(s) data. On the first download attempt, does the error show immediately, or does TaxCycle show a second/third attempt before the 201 error?

@Andrew
“Based on the error, I have assumed that you are successfully logging into the CRAs website and then proceeding to the download of your client(s) data.”

:: Correct
.
.
“On the first download attempt, does the error show immediately, or does TaxCycle show a second/third attempt before the 201 error?”

:: The error showed immediately
.
.
" Another option, if the time on your local computer is correct, is to deselect the “Use an Internet Time Server”."

:: The computer time remains correctly synced
.
.
““TaxCycle / Transmission / E-Services”. By default, service mode is selected. Can you please try deselecting this option and trying again?”

:: This solution was the charm. :+1:
It seems to work every single time now, and downloads as it always used to (on the second attempt).

Thanks for taking the time to run through those tests. That gives us something specific to investigate.
