Taxcycle installation stalls in Windows 11

Long story but the gist of it is we had a bad transformer neutral wire that was corroded which caused some serious voltage issues in the office. Despite each computer having a UPS with surge protection, 80 percent of my computers started to run slow afterward with most programs (except Taxcycle was good FWIW).

Basically I was forced to reinstall windows on all the affected PC’s and I figured it was time to start upgrading some of them and move to Windows 11. Well when I installed Taxcycle this morning on a new Windows 11 Pro OS build 22631.3737; the program appears to install but the install program hangs at about 95 percent according to the blue bar that indicates how far the program the installation has progressed. this is the second time it has happened. Basically I have to cancel the installation. I can then start Taxcycle and enter my activation code which Taxcycle accepts and then informs me no modules are available. So then I run the install again, says it will repair it takes less than a second to be done and it appears Taxcycle works fine after that. Not sure if this is a windows installer issue or Taxcycle needs some more tweaking for windows 11.

Hi James,

We don’t have any known Windows 11 to my knowledge, but ill ask the team this morning and get back to you!

Is your new install of Windows 11 fully up to date? If its not running & launching properly, do you have BitDefender or another AV blocking it? That’s not a regular issue, but does happen. I

Let me know if that helps!

Hi James, am running Windows 11, and have not had any issues…

It likely is a windows 11 patch causing it. depending on when you did the install of Taxcycle could affect this issue. I just know two computers I tried to reinstall on have had this issue

One computer was a brand new computer from Dell with Windows 11 pre installed. All updates had been installed as of yesterday. The other computer was a reinstall after a format of the drive to windows 11 and updated as well prior to the installation of Taxcycle. I use bit defender but I had not installed it on those two PC’s yet so it is not an issue. I guess it could be windows defender causing it since it is currently running until I install Bitdefender gravity zone.

My computer is getting Windows11 reinstalled as I work on my laptop. The Friday Windows security update is apparently the culprit.

Well it appears that @helga_spence possibly has the solution, I just did another one and same issue. Since the program does finish the install the second time, there is no requirement to get me up and running, you just need to fix the install program

Excellent, if that is the issue
