Can you please send TaxCycle log files to info@taxcycle.com? Your screen shot only shows part of the error log. Make sure you select the checkbox to keep detailed logs in Options. On the same options screen you can click the view log files when you hit the error to find the latest log file.

Latest Log sent.

Anybody else with this issue ?

No i have not gotten that error yet

So you are able to view/print the PRE-season client letter?

I can see and print pre season letter

did you install the latest update?

Yes i have the latest build

Well even after forensic research, I can’t figure out why I get this error (only when I try to view/print any pre or post client client for any year). Everything else is normal.
Since it seems I’m the only one with this issue, I guess my one option is to reinstall TaxCycle from scratch.

Make sure that you have the run as admin checked in the properties in the advance on the desk top icon for taxcycle and doxcycle see screen shot

Thanks @pugs1 , but it was already checked.

i’ll pm you my Phone Tax Topics

The reinstall did work. I guess something went wrong with the update process.

Update: Even after the reinstall, TaxCycle worked fine until I started working with previous years returns.
In the Template Editor I noticed that some previous years’ edited templates were duplicated and conflicting with one another. Once the duplicates were deleted TaxCycle is back to normal. Lesson learned.

@taxcycle

I had to remove all of our custom templates completely - and it still crashes.

I navigate to any PreSeason or PostSeason Letter just to look at it and it shows this screen then CRASH - and we have the most recent update!

Does “Report and Close” even go anywhere?

I’ve been dealing with this same issue for a while (even with Sarka’s help).
I did find a work-around (sort off):

  • Right click on any Pre-Post letters and choose print/pdf.
  • Once print/pdf is done you should be able to see letter in TaxCycle without it crashing.
  • BEFORE you save/close the file make sure any Pre/Post letter is NOT highlighted. Otherwise the file will crash when you open it again.

Long story short - I removed all my templates, rebooted, created brand new 2024-only clones, copied the new clones into a separate working folder, renamed, then dove into the CSS of each file and replaced the code with my original code - then fixed the errors, corrected the reference links, and fixed everything in the code, renamed back, and move new version to overwrite the new clones.

The invoice fix was very frustrating since the field names were changed from 2023 because of an unnecessary payment tracking worksheet - it’s tax filing software, not Xero A/R.

I’m still working through recalibrating all my print templates with automatic file routing of PDFs. I’m doing 7 years of template adjustments in less than 7 days, so I’m a little behind.

Lots of work!!! Mostly above my pay grade but good for you. For now the print to PDF any Pre/Post works for me for the time being.
Just wondering why we’re the only 2 with the issue… so far.
Might be a fix in a future update …
