trying to file a first time filing for an 18 year old Canadian Citizien. the name on his SIN shows 2 middle names. I have tried sending in multiple ways and it keeps getting rejected. Any clues on this?
All my kids have two middle names, all three names are in the first name field… no middle anything… and the last as per usual.
I have also seen.. First name and one middle name in the first name field, and second middle name in the middle name field
And every other possible combination.
I suggest you start with all in first name… and keep track of what you try and just keep re-trying until you find it.
The problem originates on the Service Canada side.. not enough oversight on the data entry and this is what we must match to. Different rules for different name combos as the forms were not always large enough for the parent to write in the names and the poor data entry peeps were left guessing.
Whether or not it is true it was indicated to me the returns returning 112-B would need to be paper filed.
thanks you both for replying. I finally figured out the combo. the 2 middle names were entered together without a space between them! crazy hey?!
Same problem here multiple times this year. Can’t be bothered to mess around with the names. I send them in with e-file rejections pages and copy of the SIN.
I sent the paper return with copy of the SIN Card and Driver’s License. After three tries, I don’t try any further. I find that the SIN is locked.
But I find it interesting that the problem has orginated because the child has three names.
