I’m getting an efile rejection for a client that I can’t figure out. I can’t see anything wrong.
I’m authorized on her account and can access everything normally. I’m logged into it right now.
I can AFR as of 5 minutes ago.
Everything is correct with her name and SIN and marital status.
Besides being able to AFR, 4 sets of eyes have looked at it including hers. Everything matches and is correct.
It is not a public holiday.
She is 67 years old so not her first return.
Name change is checked No.
But I can’t get this file through. Any ideas what could be wrong? I hate these generic error codes that seem to just mean “unknown” because none of the things they say apply.
Looking at the codes on CRA, neither appear to be valid codes. 184 isn’t even a code. I look it up and the results give me 2184

Note: A change to both the first name and last name is not permitted.
-
You have indicated that your client’s last name has changed but according to CRA’s records there is no change.
-
Your client is a first-time filer and their first name or last name does not agree with the information on CRA’s records.
As my mother-in-law loves to say. There is nothing wrong with it. It’s just broke.
