A client was separated in 2024 and he wants to remove his spouse’s information on his 2025 T1. If he is separated but not yet divorced, isn’t he required to report his spouse’s info (SIN, full name, date of birth, and net income) on the T1?
No, if they are separated the 90 days you don’t include the spouse’s info on the return.
While you have to wait for 90 days, the separation date is retroactive to the first of the 90 days.
