Is there any way to remove the “Preview” watermark from Form T776 when printing a CRA copy?
I urgently need to mail Form T1159 for my US client and must include a clean T776 printout without watermarks.
Thanks.

You can print it to a PDF. Then go into a PDF editor and delete the PDF watermark. I found this last week by accident when doing a 2025 tax projection for a client.
Thank you. Which PDF editor did you use?
I tried Acrobat but it does not remove full watermark text.
I use a program called “FileCenter”. It’s a document management system. Their PDF editor allows you to edit/remove watermarks, text, and images.
Acrobat should remove the watermark if you use the “Reduce File Size” tool (see below), choose “Make compatible with: Acrobat 10 and later”, then save and close the PDF. When you re-open it, the watermark should be gone. At least, it works for me.
Hi Kevin, I have been looking at filecenter, how do you like it?
I’ve used it for at least 5 or more years and really like the program. It’s kind of like Windows Explorer on steroids. It’s based on a system of Cabinets and Drawers. Cabinets are like the top end folders, which, in my case, are Personal (T1, T3), Corporate (T2, T4, T5) , Admin, and TaxFiling (the TaxCycle files). The Drawers are, say, the client files within the Personal or Corporate folders.
I have a 3 monitor setup. FileCenter is open on a portrait monitor pretty much all day. The other two monitors are used for working on various other programs. I have tabs for my personal clients, business, an Admin tab, and a tab for various corporate folders for my largest client. I just use the “Manage” and “PDF Editor” parts of the program but it has other features.
I’ve found the OCR to be very good. Another feature is that you can build-in various templates for naming files as you scan documents into the program. I also use the TaxCycle print-sets to print into the client’s current year folder and give it the appropriate file name, and if the folder hasn’t yet been setup, TaxCycle creates it. The program also has a print driver (not sure if that’s the correct term) so you can print directly from other programs (Excel, Word, etc) directly to the current folder open in FileCenter.
The main file section (“Manage” in FileCenter) has a re-sizeable preview box so I don’t have to open a file to get a good look at what’s in it. The other feature I like is that double-clicking on a PDF file opens the FileCenter PDF Editor in the same program. The editor is a big step up from DoxCycle’s ability to annotate documents. I usually prepare and review tax returns with the working papers open in the editor. Like Adobe, you can setup custom stamps, including dynamic stamps. It also has bookmarks and page views. You can also setup custom annotation features such as text box styles with the correct font and font-size as defaults.
The program is quick accessing and opening files. My guess is that the program gets updated monthly at least. The support has been great, too. It’s not a big cost and the annual support fee is quite reasonable.
Interesting, I was just looking at the pricing and is it really a onetime purchase license? ie. not subscription? That is rare these days.
As long as you pay the annual support fee, you get free updates all year. In the time I’ve used the program, I’ve never had to pay anything beyond the support fee.
Hi, Kevin,
How is the OCR for data converting PDF ledger documents to Excel? Do documents like Blue Cross Medical receipts which have lots of banners, etc, transfer into actual spreadsheet ledger columns, or does the data require lots of correcting? Adobe is horrible for these types of document conversions so I’ve been using my free version of Abbyy PDF Transformer+ that came with my Brother scanner for these conversions. I’m thinking of licensing Abbyy when it next comes on sale because of it’s robust OCR designed for ledgers.
We are looking to get an update out later today, where the preview comes off the T776, thank you for your patience.
What about the T2125, will the preview come off there as well?
Yes, the release is now live and the preview has come off the T2125
I haven’t done either of those things with OCR. I’ve never had luck with converting PDF’s to Excel but perhaps this is getting better as Excel and OCR age. I just tried exporting a PDF 5 year summary of a new client’s T1’s. It converted pretty well to an Excel sheet. I’m not so sure about your Blue Cross receipts.
FileCenter’s OCR has the ability, probably like DoxCycle, to show where fields you want would show up on a form. Then as you scan documents, it will pull out the information at that designated spot on the form. I’ve used it sparingly when scanning T183’s to pull out the client name and the year and incorporate that into the filename. It’s not perfect but it works. The form has to be fairly standard.
Thank you @kevin for your great review
When are we getting rid of Watermark on T777? What other forms still have watermark?
Intuit Profile have updated their CCA schedules to account for the bill C-15 RIIP (Reaccelerated Investment Incentive Property) and renamed the GST/HST Credit to CGEB (Canada Groceries & Essentials Benefit).
This morning Intuit Profile released a software update to remove their watermarks on the T777 as well as the rental and self employed schedules so TaxCycle must be getting really close.
Actively using both pieces of software; my opinion is that TaxCycle is still miles ahead of Profile with regard to the quality of their product though… ![]()
