Does anyone here use the PO Box, Box Location and RR fields in Options and/or in the related preparer fields on the Engagement worksheet in TaxCycle?
Yes, my address is RR 895
In my experience, CRA does not like the words typed out as it doesn’t match Canada Post stuff.
Although this field is not transmitted, I prefer to keep the same formatting to avoid potential errors at a later date.
Yes. I have near Calgary clients with various mailing address options.
Address issues with clients at Tsuut’ina Nation, Alberta and on Christian Island, ON. In the past CRA recognized on one address at these locations.
So, I need to note all three addresses in my client file and verify with CRA which is acceptable– Physical ie with RR, Canada Post validated, and CRA accepted. PO box numbers often pose and issue. One work around is to call it and apt#
Ranches and farm addresses can cause issues.
Coops on some of the off BC coast islands pose similar issues.
Sometimes I also note the tax roll address in my records for clarify.
When in doubt, I send CRA correspondence for clarity about which address they need.
When I worked at CRA the mainframe files recognized three addresses: Physical, mailing, and care/of. In addition the files noted the past three prior addresses with change of address dates.
CRA collections notes additional and alternative address.
A bit long winded and not a clear reply. Just some bread crumbs in the search for a clear and complete procedure for which we likely need input from CRA and Canada Post.
Nothing is being considered that would impact client addresses. I am only asking about your company address for your own business as it relates to the Preparer for the engagement and in your letterhead.
I use the PO box for my address.
