In the TaxCycle Info Screen, there is a question: “Is the home address the same as the mailing address”. I had never answered no to this before. By answering no, I expected that there would be an option to enter a different “Mailing Address”, but there is not. Does anyone know the purpose of this question, and whether there is any place where an alternate address can be entered in TaxCycle?
Good example for this is students or young adults. They are living away from home but their mailing address is still their parents. Alternate address would be entered on ONB and could also affect Climate Action.
CRA doesn’t want to know their “alternate” address except for which province they actually RESIDE in (per the field below the question "Is the home address the same as the mailing address?”):

T1 mailing vs physical address
Please let me know what you worked out to solve this question.
Comments
When I worked at CRA in 2007/ 2008 we had three address fields:
- Physical
- Mailing
- Care of a third party
CRA current address fields
During the past 3 or 4 years I tried updating mailing vs physical address for Alberta taxpayers working in the bush or well head, living in rental housing in Alberta, but having all mail sent to their. The current level 1 CRA Personal Enquiries’ agents had no idea what I was talking about.
When pressed a senior agent suggested that I write a clarifying letter. As far as I know from multiple enquiries, currently you would need to send a letter to both CRA T1 Correspondence and CRA T1 Benefits Processing for CRA to accurately process multiple addresses. As of now, I do not have a definitive confirmation from CRA on topic.
#TaxCycle Question
Could someone from the TaxCyle team clarify this matter?
TaxCycle T1 Address Fields
#TaxCycle Request
Last year I requested that TaxCycle include a way of us being able to track al three address fields with no response.
Past experience
When I worked at Liberty Tax using the Liberty Tax franchise version of Intuit ProFile prior to my season at CRA before going full-time independently, I vaguely remember being able to use all three fields, plus checking a “use Preparer Address” for the discounted returns. I worked for Liberty Tax in both Ontario and Alberta. This refers to the old Ontario rent rebate checks which are now tax benefits. This enabled us to receive the expected tax refund to offset the “discounted refund” which we issued in the late fall/ early winter, before the normal efile season began.
#Multiple Address Use Cases
I have run into problems with CRA and various tax preparation applications with mapping and documenting multiple address to address fields in several use cases:
1. Remote worker or contract worker
Remote worker or contract worker in Alberta rental or temporary accommodation, ie working in the bush, work camp, or other remote site. All CRA mail is sent to a family member or trusted friend often in Ontario, Quebec, or the Maritimes. Tax province is Alberta because living and working year round in Alberta, and, T4 assumes province of work is Alberta.
2. Marriage breakdown.
Husband has left matrimonial home. Lives in temporary accommodations. Mail sent to family member or third party.
3. Hospitalized or Care Center
Lives in hospital or care home. Mail goes to family member, legal representative, or guardian.
4. Individual is incarcerated
Individual is incarcerated, about to be incarcerated, or recently released. It often takes 6 months to 2 years to find a stable address. Mail goes to family member or trusted third party.
4. Student in another province
Mail goes to family member or trusted third party.
5. Student, resident, or post doctoral fellow in another country with continuing ties to Canada
Mail goes to family member or trusted third party.
