I have files that are marked as not E-filed even though I know I E-filed them.
Is there a way to find out what the Confirmation Number is?
on the Transmit Tab (side bar), under the little happy face there’s a down arrow…that should provide all the detail you need.
This year I had files that i tried to efile that just hung for like t mins.. closed program checked online it’s filed.. went to taxcycle.. information and made up a number.. all we can do as far as I know
Worst filing season for issues ever..igh

The problem I am having is that the file has been transmitted, but the TC file says it is not. To fix this one has to select “T1 Efile transmited” in “Transmission and Filing” in the File Information Tab and enter the confirmation number. I can’t do that if I don’t know what the confirmation number is.
Did you know that you can log in to CRA’s secure EFILE web service whenever it’s convenient for you?
- Sign in to the secure site with your EFILE number and password.
- Click on the “View T1 EFILE Service Transmission History” link to display your rejected transmissions in reverse chronological order.
Thanks Helga,
Unfortunately, this service only goes back to the beginning of 2025.
I am looking for a 2022 file is transmitted in Mar/23.
I was wondering if TC has saved this confirmation numbers somewhere.
@Rein, on your client’s 2022 TaxCycle file for this client, click the “File” pull down menu and select “History”. This will open to a date & time history listing of each time you worked on the file, including when it was e-filed.
In this file, look specifically for an entry stating:
"Successfully transmitted <client name’s> T1 Efile date ( Transmission # ________ Confirmation #____________ ).
(I’ve substituted an Underline to represent the numbers you are looking for).
On the right side of that same screen and on that same line are two icons with links to the text files that you can download and review. If you want to review these files, use a text editor like Notepad or Notepad++.
(Hint: it’s faster looking for these icons than it is to look for the left hand text saying “Successfully transmitted”).
- The icon with the Lightning Arrow is the Transmission History XML File
showing the data transmitted to CRA. It’s often saved as a .tax file in other tax software. - The 2nd icon to the right of the Lightning Arrow Icon is the Confirmation Data XML file. This is the data that is reproduced in the “EfileResults” tab.
The confirmation number you are looking is within this XML statement:
< t1ersp:TransmissionNumber > ________ </t1ersp:TransmissionNumber>
One would hope that since your file was successfully transmitted to CRA, as evident by the file appearing on your client’s CRA account, hopefully TaxCycle would have an entry for that transmission here.
Hope this helps.

Hmm…good find!
Not sure that provides any info - other than the actual transcript (?) of the comms with CRA in…plain text…because the info that is easily ascertainable (DCN and Trans #) are copied in both the Efile page and in the smiley face tab in humanly readable format. (LOL)
There’s no evidence of an actual confirmation from CRA, unless I’m misreading it…just the wording from TC that the trans was “received and processed” etc..maybe that’s from CRA though?. Or maybe that’s intended to be the Trans # (though it appears that even unsuccessful ones get a Trans #…).
I guess if TC actually failed to SAVE the Trans # and add it to the file due to a bug/glitch, then it might be in the “T1 EFILE Response.ws” file or in the “attempt.ws” file…and should, of course, be in both.
Thanks Gerry,
I did look in the History tab, but it doesn’t have this line. Now I am wondering if my backup system messed it up.
Does anyone know if TC saves the XML file it sends to CRA?
I just checked with TC. No way to get that back. It is saved in the file and if it is not there, it is lost. At least we found away around it by putting a fake confirmation number in.
