Good evening folks - just tried to efile some returns and one came back with an odd error. Error code 139270 “An invalid character(s) is in the free format area. Review the free format entires and contact your software developer if you need assistance.” Of course it was 6:30 when I got this message, so I am wondering if any of my most helpful peers have seen this free format area, or if I am unicron hunting until the morning?
Without any info in front of me, I’ll guess that line 9270 is negative,and CRA doesn’t allow it. Alternately, await an official answer from the team tomorrow.

I have an error message and can’t efile - of course the client owes over $10,000. Code 139943 There is an invalid characteer in the free form area. Review the entries and contact your software developer if you need assistance. Help!
Not sure i can help but i had that error before. in my case i had imported 2125 info from a spreadsheet and I had imported the closing inventory as a negative number causing an invalid entry in that field.
