I am receiving a strange error and have no idea where it is coming from. There is nothing in TaxCycle that makes me think this should exist. There are no overrides, everything is filled in correctly, it does not seem to be an error with a slip, but rather with the summary itself.
I just received this error as well, the only difference from the other T4s I’ve filed this morning is there are zero remittances paid and I had to sign off that field. Would this cause an efile error?
If you are using TaxCycle to file your slips, start by checking your Profile options. Make sure everything is accurate there. Then I printed out the step by step instructions on how to file T4’s and T5’s from TaxCycle. I had no problems they went through smoothly once I fixed an address on one of my clients. I had an extra space in the postal code.

It’s definitely not an "options profile’ issue.
I have been able to successfully file a couple of others later today without any errors at all, so the profile options must be fine. I have gone back through the files that kick out the formatting error and I can’t seem to find anything offensive. Everything seems to be in order with the names, addresses, postal codes etc. Completely stumped at this point.
I tried to match up the address exactly as seen on CRA account and still get the error. I tried to manually upload the xml file and got this error:
Error: We are unable to process your submission because the transmitter CRA account number given in the attached T619 electronic transmittal record does not match the account number you used to sign in.
Which makes no sense as I have efiled several T4s today without issue. The only two I can’t efile are proprietors, but I have successfully filed other proprietors today. I can’t find any errors on these two T4s or other similarities that would explain this issue.
We have reached out to the CRA as to why more are failing, we are noticing higher than normal fail rates of T4 submissions. At this time, we have not been made aware of any new validations, or modified websites.
FYI… I received that same error today… but I thought WTH…i know all the information is correct and selected to file with error anyways… a little over an hour later I received confirmation CRA accepted my filing.
I had successfully filed many T4, T4A and T5 submissions prior to this weekend.
I went ahead and filed one of the sets of T4 slips that CRA indicated there was invalid formatting detected.
Even though you get a warning of these formatting errors the system still allows you to check a box that says “I want to proceed without correcting these errors”. You get a warning that CRA may reject the return.
I checked the box and submitted the T4 slips and summary. Within 10 seconds I received a confirmation email letting me know the submission was received by the CRA and the return was accepted.
Thanks Rachel - I was getting same error, even though all formatting was exactly the same as last year, and I’ve filed others without issue. So I just did the same as you - fingers crossed!
Error: We are unable to process your submission because the transmitter CRA account number given in the attached T619 electronic transmittal record does not match the account number you used to sign in.
I had this error and finally found that the account number I had in TC was RT0001 and not RP. Changed to RP and it filed with no issue.
It had been like that for years with no issue, but I guess this year with the new verifications it was a problem.
@snowplowguy…you might want to keep an eye on that one. I get a confirming email that looks a bit different…there is no “In Progress”…just an “Accepted”.
What I originally mentioned last week is happening on the T4 SUMMARY not the slips - and there was no extra blank space or invalid characters.
I do note that if you do not have a “Care Of” address entry, there is a blank row on the T4 Summary page in the software but this cannot be removed.
UPDATE EDIT: I do note that there is no option to have the date filled in on filing like we do on the T183 “Use the Signing date entered on the Info Worksheet (or the current date if blank)”
Could this be the issue?
Also note that the T5 for the same client filed with no issues, and there was no date entered - but there is also no “care of” line on the T5 Summary
I did notice one troubleshooting that may or may not be relevant:
There were two T4 Summaries printing - Summary of Remuneration is one, and then Summary of Remuneration paid for reduced EI is another.
I had to change the T4Summary print options to “When used, show in set and select for print” instead of “Always show in set and select for print”. The latter was creating another T4Summary printed for the reduced EI even when it was blank.
