Does anyone know if it is possible to reduce the space between the header and the date. I have checked all the lines and paragraph settings to ensure there is no spacing before or after, but the spacing never changes

Is the address part of the logo? If so, you might have to crop your logo.
Yes logo is part of the logo. I will try as you suggest and crop the logo. Thank you 
Cropping did not change my spacing between the letterhead snippet and the date of my letter. I appreciate your suggestion.

When you go to the letterhead snippet template, does it have extra lines?
or maybe in the snippet there is spacing after the logo- right click to open the paragraph options
