The bulletin message " Identification information has changed for this client. This file should not be linked with other files" popped up on a T4 file where the preparer said they only said the account number in the Issuer information as it was incorrect. What does this bulletin message refer to? I have made sure there is not a duplicate file or any linked files to the T4, but the message has not gone away.
It means you changed the company name or BN in the current year T4 file, so it should not be considered “carried forward” from the prior year T4 file. If you “carried forward” the T4 file from the prior year, there is a link to the prior year file (see below). You can (maybe should?) remove that link. But, TaxCycle doesn’t force you to. If you want to maintain the link, just ignore the warning message.
