AGR1 Slips

What are the chances the AGR1 slips will be added to Taxcycle for printing and filing with CRA for the 2024 slip season?

Hi,

We haven’t received many requests for inclusion of this in the slip filing offerings we provide (This is the first request I’ve had this season for it). At this time it’s unlikely we’d include it for the forthcoming tax season given the development work to provide a new slips filing module to support this. I’ve made a note in our suggestions list and would invite any others who think this would be beneficial for inclusion to please reach out and let us know.

Well if it is not available or added after the request, a customer would likely purchase competing software to file it and likely not ask again, I had to purchase a different software to prepare the slips but would prefer them in one program if possible. I understand the cost to Taxcycle to develop and maintain the slips, but one would think the majority of the work has already been completed and to add additional slips would not be starting at the beginning. Either way if it is not likely they will be added, then I will have to continue with Plan B

Now I curious, James, what clients do you have that need to produce AGR1 slips?

Ditto @jimt
As I understand it, these slips are generated by Agriculture Canada. Who else would issue them?

As a policy, I do not provide my clients names; however, in a nut shell it is a government organization but not Agriculture Canada providing grants. Since Avantax e forms can produce the slip there must be some market for it.

I ditto @Rob’s comment re preferring everything regarding Tax Preparation and filing from a single vendor. While I love TaxCycle’s technical support there are a few areas in which TaxCycle is falling short and/or falling behind for my needs.

My feedback…

1. Document Management
DoxCycle falls far short is no longer competitive with other offers. This is insufficient for me to move elsewhere but is an annoyance. I have given up making requests and use other products.

2. TaxFolder and e-signature options
TaxFolder falls short in both document sharing and #e-signatures. This is insufficient for me to move elsewhere but is an increasing annoyance. I have given up making requests and am planning to use another product for the 2024 tax season.

3.Tax Slips
#TaxSlips is ok for now. I would like to see more features and functions in workflow, tags, and client manager.

4. Tax Forms
#TaxForms has annoyed me since day 1. I have no idea why every CRA tax form, whether WebFile or NetFile or PaperFile, is not included in this product. I find this very, very frustrating and annoying. I have given up making requests and am looking at other products.

5. Custom Letters and Cutstom PrintSets with Options Settings
#CustomLetters and #CustomPrintSets with the #Options maintenance are becoming an ever increasing source of frustration and annoyance. In 2016 I was completely delighted and relieved at the ease of migration of #CustomLetters and #CustomPrintSets when compared with Intuit ProFile, I am increasing frustrated at awkwardness and huge time waste in reordering forms in custom print sets and in setting up Custom Letters each year. As far as Letters are concerned, at the very least I would like to a footer added with the client name, tax year, and page number. This should be dead dumb simple to implement. I have given up making requests and am looking at other products.

In conclusion…
My overwhelming love of TaxCycle support a ProTaxCommunity support still far outweighs my growing list of annoyances. However, I did find myself checking out the competition and possible add-ons this year.

@dominique_dabolczi I would have to agree with the giving up making requests, I used to make a list of things that needed improvement but it was hit or miss regarding whether they have been implemented. There are so many things they could do with the the software but either they do not have the time or are un interested. I do thank @Rob for responding quickly even though it was not the answer I was hoping for. Similar to their parent company, there is so many things they could do to make the program better but they go off on other tangents. My guess is like the the AGR1 slip, not requested enough to make the changes. I keep telling Xero to hire me as a consultant and I will show them the time sucking portions of their program.

@james1
Thank you for your comments.
I did chuckle out loud in an otherwise difficult day by your comments.

I also thank @Rob and all TaxCycle development and support staff for their phenomenal speed of reply and frank and honest feedback. Bugs and errors are fixed quickly. Support response turn around time is fabulous. No lies or false promises. What you see is what you get. That is the number 1 reason that I am a TaxCycle user.

I also wish the TaxCycle management and Xero executives would take a closer look at improving functionality and workflow in the areas of huge time sucks and kludgey workarounds which leave us exposed to unneccessary quality exposure when we cobble together a solve for the missing features and functions.

With a race to automate and simplify workflow I think that we are not long for major leaps in tax preparation software ecosystems.
