What grinds my gears...VISA and big banks - CSVs

More of a rant here than anything else, but it drives me nuts that I have some small business clients who come once a year for corporate work, send me their banking and VISA…but the VISA is often only as PDFs. They either didn’t download CSVs/Excel as they went through the year and can’t now. (RBC only provides CSV download for the last statement and 1 month back after the fact…no ability to download for the year. TD lets one download month by month going back at least a year eg.)

Now, as an Excel junkie I can generally extract the info from PDFs, write a few macros to reformat or use string formulas to parse the output…but…these are BUSINESS accounts…you’d think that the banks would provide the ability to download CSVs to clients. It’s a MAJOR pain to me when we need to do this with client files.

Having just done this several times, annoyed I am!

Some? Almost every one of my clients does that. It’s a pain to have to do everything by hand. And they sometimes offer to “help”. I’ve had their help… It makes my work even harder. LoL!

Being able to download that data as a CSV would be a game changer.
