Spouses are living in BC. One of them dies and the other moves to Alberta that same year. At tax time, the deceased spouse was a BC resident while the living one should be filed as an Alberta resident. Is there a way to mark each person with the appropriate residency province? Right now we’re splitting them out into separate files, but then spousal credits don’t flow across nicely.
It’s very rare, but thought I’d ask if there’s a way to do this.
I used to have a married couple like that. Printed the one…changed the province and printed the other. (Filed the same way, obviously…it was a PITA. Don’t think I’ve had one since that time.)
