Spouses in different provinces

I have a client who lived in BC at time of death. Before Dec 31, surviving spouse relocated to Ontario. When I change one spouse’s province, it changes both in Tax Cycle. Does anyone know how to do this? Prefer not to uncouple because there is pension splitting.

Does it want to change the pension splitting amounts depending on whether it is BC or ON? If not I’d just e-file the first return with the proper province then change the province in the program and e-file the other one. If it does want to change the pension splitting amount then you are probably going to have to uncouple them.

I would put survior as ontario and override province of residence on deceased spouse return to bc

As mailing address for the deceased is likely to surviving spouse

You have to override the province of one spouse on the actual T1 jacket. Doing it from the info page will change both spouses.
