Resolved - T5 efile "Possible error: No action required..."

I wanted to mention an issue that I resolved with respect to efiling T5 slips through TaxCycle. I am using the latest version of the software, and most of the T5s I filed were fine, but I had a handful that came back with the error:

“Possible error: No action required at this time, but the CRA may have to validate this further.”

I tried filing without correcting the error (because I couldn’t see any errors), but it was rejected.

Finally when I went to Represent a Client for one of the clients whose T5s were rejected, I noticed that I was using the wrong account number. That is, I was using RZ0001 but their active account is actually RZ0002. I made that change and the T5s were accepted.

I had been using RZ0001 for these clients for several years, and had no issue before now. So it appears in CRA’s changes to the filing system, you now have to make sure to have the right RZ000X account number, whereas before it was only checking the 9-digit Business Number.

Thanks for sharing. That cleared up our error.

When I checked represent-a-client, the issuer had an RZ0001 for “contract payments” and RZ0002 for “information returns”. Use the one for “information returns” and you won’t get the error.
