I haven’t had to use refile that much as most often I can handle it via CRA change my return. However when re-filing a tax return, does anyone use a client engagement letter to tell them you are re-filing and have them sign it along with the T1ADJ. I looked in the templates and did not see one, so maybe not a big request?

3We do get the occasional request for this. It would help me to know what people would expect to see in the letter. Is it the client letter with a new paragraph (this gets complicated for a variety of reasons), or a separate letter that is super focused on the changes and doesn’t go into the detail of the client letter (my preference)? And if it were a separate letter, what do you expect to see in it?
If you are refiling a T1, you need a signature on a T183(R). I also get a signature on the T1ADJ.
If I use change my return, I get a signature on the T1ADJ.
The same process here as well, but I would be interested in also having the client sign a new engagement letter as well
– mjeconsultingI created the attached for 2024. I started with the client letter. Added some paragraphs at the beginning about the adjustment. I ended up using custom fields for information we wanted to include. Then I only included paragraphs relating to pertinent CF or benefit amounts that might have changed from the adjustment.

I would like a separate letter that would explain the changes being made and what the expected result would be after the changes
– mjeconsultingI generally don't use an Engagement letter unless it is a new client asking me to adjust a return that we didn't originally file, but it would be nice to have a modified Engagement letter for that purpose. I do use and modify the Client Letter to report to the client what the changes will be before we file the adjustment.
