Phoning CRA general inquires?

Is there a day or time of day when you can actually get through to CRA?

I check the CRA link for wait times and they are unavailable. Contact the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) - Canada.ca
I try to call anyway and get the automated response to use the online services, then no other options (not put on hold).

I have to call for this issue. I have a client that for three years now CRA her return has been put to Pre-assessment review. For 2022 and 2023 we filed in April and the returns were not assessed until fall. There is nothing fancy about the return, just the basics. I can only try ot escalate her return to get it moved up faster. When i look at her CRA account in the Client Data Enquiry she has the following note:
" Review
The CRA may review this taxpayer’s income tax and benefit return."

If anyone has had success calling CRA in the last week I’d like to know. And if anyone can shed some light on why this file is getting this year after year it would be nice to to know, since CRA says nothing!

I have a client in his 80’s. I’ve been doing his return for about 15 years. He and his wife separated in 2005(?). He pays spousal support which is indexed according to the increase in his teacher’s pension each year. All his payments are the correct amount and on time. We submitted the support agreement in 2014. In the past 11 tax years, he’s had 4 Processing Reviews (including a preassessment review for 2024) and three reassessments that have all been corrected back to the way the returns were filed. I’ve made three service complaints. Basically ignored each time, so best of luck. CRA said they will continually choose returns that have had errors. I replied that the only errors were the one’s they created. Still no luck.

Fridays are the best. Start dialing a minute before they open in your area so you get through the menu and ready to get into the queue. Incoming staff will cover the new calls.
Telephone agents will be available:
Monday to Friday: 6:30 am to 11:00 pm ET. Saturday: 7:30 am to 8:00 pm ET.

I hate getting a level 1 rep when I need level 2. Generally you have to wait for 1 and 2, and often you lose the call and have to start over. Your lucky if you are offered a callback within the next 3 days. Don’t leave your office or you may have a message, but no call back number.

This is our broken system. I wish they’d bring back trouble resolutions.

this happens to me everytime - hours on call and then when I get the right level - the call drops hmm!!

Maybe this is a cheat way, or I was just lucky those couple times. I always waited to have enough problems before I call. There were few times, when I had questions on personal and business. when I was done with business, or personal, I asked to be transfer, and I was able to get to an agent right away.
