New Authorization Process Frustration

Hi there community!

Does anyone else feel that CRA is trying to make it more difficult to do our jobs? New tax client for me this year. Of course she is unorganized and cannot find her 2024 NOA. No problem, I filed her and said when her 2025 NOA was issued, we would proceed with the process then. Just went on-line to start the process and of course CRA is asking for her 2024 info, not the current year.

No real question here- just here to rant today.
Anyway, Happy Monday to everyone! Lol

Notice of assessment has to be 6 months old.

Every time I get the invited to do the RAC “survey” I complete it and then rant about that in the comments/feedback section, not sure who (if anyone) actually reads that but…

Ah, thank you for that tidbit of information. That helps a lot:)

So many complaints about CRA’s services boil down to “I didn’t bother to actually find out how to use this service.”

While I agree that complaints are often related to not know how to use CRA services, CRA has NOT made it very easy to navigate the unusual situations, ie, not filed for many years, or filed 2024 recently (not more than six months ago) or deceased new to our firm, or first time taxfiler, or 2024 NOA issued in the past 6 months, etc

So many complaints about CRA’s service boil down to “Management of CRA has decided that security theatre is more important than actual security.”

The changes they’ve made are inane. Booting us out of RAC every few minutes accomplishes nothing but frustration in small offices (H&R was allegedly the origin of this…and we are ALL paying the price). Authorizations were abused by lawyers in divorce cases … and we are paying the price. RAC works, or not. Depends on the day.

And they still paid out hundreds of millions in carousel schemes, even though they knew they were doing so.

CRA isn’t devoid of issues.
