My new client’s accountant has passed. They use to use Tax Folder to share documents but now the client is saying they no longer have access. Are they able to obtain access again if I purchase Tax Folder? Or is it just whatever was shared between the client and accountant.
Before doing anything I would contact Tax Folder.

There is no way for the clients to gain access to another accountants files through anyone else. There is no way for you or them to retrieve them, unfortunately.
Just went through this with TaxFolder and selling some clients. We have to either maintain access for them, or the clients have to download all their info before we terminate their accounts as clients in TaxFolder. No way to transfer it to a new accountant any other way.
A client called Tax Cycle/Folder and they said it might be possible for them to re-instate the subscription for a short time to have clients download their data. You’d have to get the person representing the estate to contact Tax Cycle.
