Helpful Custom T2 Print Sets

Hi all! I’m a pretty new firm and am working on getting some customizations in place to streamline tax prep and filing - Curious to know what others include in the print sets they send to their clients for their clients to review and sign all required documents for an Alberta T2 before filing.

Do you send the full client copy before filing, or do you send a shorter version for review?

Here are the documents I have in my T2 Client Review print set so far:

  • T183Corp
  • AT4930 Alberta Consent Form
  • S100
  • S125
  • T2Return
  • T2Summary
  • 5YearShort

I’m also open to any other custom print sets that you have found useful!

I will just send the T183 and T2summary, nothing else, since the financials must already have been discussed with the client. (even if they are prepared by their bookkeeper, theyre aware of it.)

We have a print set that includes the following:

  • T2Summary
  • 5YearShort
  • Interest & late filing penalty worksheet (if applicable)
  • Instalments worksheet (if applicable)
  • Corporate information (the “Info” page in TaxCycle - so they can verify addresses on file with CRA, etc)
  • Dividends Paid worksheet
  • S8 Asset Manager (shows history of all additions)
  • a few other worksheets when they are applicable - documents that are useful for continuity if they decide to switch accountants, but are not really part of the T2 and official schedules

Along with that, we include:

  • Draft financials (if they hired us to prepare them)
  • Cover letter with details regarding any relevant issues (dividends to be reported, bookkeeping errors we corrected, etc)
  • Management representation letter

After the client reviews our work and confirms it is ok, we send them documents that require signing (via electronic signing unless they come see us in person):

  • T183
  • T5Summary
  • Management representation letter

After they sign the required documents and pay our bill, we give them everything else:

  • Full T2 - with all relevant schedules and forms, excluding worksheets which were already provided in the initial “summary” document
  • T5 slips (recipient copies)
  • Final copy of financials statements (if applicable)
  • Adjusting entries
  • Adjusted trial balance
  • Letter to lawyer re: dividends, etc
  • Anything else they’ve asked for
