Efile Error 184 re Schedule 6 Canada Workers Benefit?

I’ve efiled two returns this morning for clients who are in long-term care. I have received an Efile error message on both T1’s about a problem with entries on Schedule 6 for the Canada Workers Benefit. These two clients have never, including in 2022, had anything to do with the CWB.

These are both long time clients and nothing has changed other than now they’re living in LTC.

I have the same error for a retired couple NOT in long term care. The husband still earns some income driving a school bus. EFILE error is:

There are entries on the Schedule 6 for the Canada workers benefit and one of the following situations applies to your client’s return:

  1. The marital status is married or living common-law but there is no entry on line 38101.
  2. The marital status is other than married or living common-law but lines 38101 and/or 38104 are equal to “1.”
  3. The marital status is other than married or living common-law but there are entries on lines 38106, 38107, 38108, 38109 and/or 38110.

In this case, I think situation 1 applies. Line 38101 is on Schedule 6 - “Do you have an eligible spouse?” It is answered Yes, so why does CRA say “…there is no entry on line 38101”?

My cases also meet the #1 criteria but that’s only important if you’re claiming the CWB. These error messages just started today and for no real reason. There were no entries on Sch 6.

I’ve called CRA Sudbury E-file Help Desk, the agent had mentioned that there is an issue on their end. The agents have been told to instruct e-filers to file the tax returns either by tonight or tomorrow morning.
Guess it must be some sort of glitch on their end…

I reported this to TaxCycle via their website, and got a response from Tony Croft

“We have contacted CRA in regard to this efile error and are waiting for their response”

When I was on the wait line with Efile Helpdesk there was a queue of 15 people in line before me.

@GuyWhoPlaysGolf, did they mean file AFTER tonight or tomorrow morning? I can’t clear these messages to file tonight. Thanks for calling them, though.

They said “tonight or by tomorrow morning” which I don’t know if that is EST or PST.

Update:
As of April 4, 2023 12:26 P.M EST, there is still the same error message is still showing up.
I called the E-fIle Help Desk again, they’ve said to file the return by tomorrow…
