Doc u Sign

I am currently test driving SignNow. It allows unlimited signatures for $96USD annually per user, or approx. $144CDN. As a part time proprietor, I can absorb this cost. So far it works good, but the DocuSign integration with Taxcycle would add some value to the process if it saves me time in confirming receipt of signatures, etc.

@snoplowguy - any reason as to why? I thought this was an open forum where we could discuss…

We use Sharefile as well. You will be better off to use RightSignature if you want a smooth workflow with Sharefile and TaxCycle. We are just setting it up now and it’s actually pretty sweet… might even dare to go as far as to say it’s better, overall, than the DocuSign integration, especially if you use Sharefile as a document portal with your clients.

Here is what it looks like:

a) Contact Sharefile Sale for them to add RightSignature to your account (it’s about $25 per seat, 3 seat minimum… still half price compared to DocuSign), and go through the customizing your settings and adding your users.

b) Install the ā€œPrint to Sharefileā€ driver. This Print Driver will allow you to save directly to your Sharefile, and as part of the process, will let you send document for signature via RightSignature.

c) Setup new Print options in TaxCycle that uses the ā€œPrint to Sharefileā€ as the printer. We’ve setup two: one is for all the documents/forms that need signatures (saved to their portal, and will flow to RightSignature), and the other is for the client’s copy of the tax return, which will be saved to their portal as well.

Note, as part of the sending for signature process, you can add a PIN that the client needs to enter before opening the document in RightSignature. A neat additional security feature. We’ll look at having this turned on for all tax form that have a SIN, and have the PIN code be the last four digit of the SIN.

d) When the client is done signing, the signed copy gets saved to their portal automatically and both our team and the client can access it for posterity.

e) The sender (or printer in this case) gets an automatic email notification that the document is fully signed as soon as it’s done. Because we use the ShareFile sync tool, we can just use File Explorer to navigate to the client portal, confirm all is good and Efile.

Hope this helps. I’ve been looking forward to CRA allowing digital/electronic signature for a while, so excited (in a geekie way) to use this setup.

I don’t believe your questions are being censored by anyone. I think it may be a problem on your end.

Are you typing out your questions or are you copy and pasting them from somewhere? Perhaps that is the issue? There must be some technical issue because all of your posts do display on the message board up to the point where you type ā€œTwo questions:ā€. After that, the remainder of your post is either invisible or missing.

This is another great reason to use TaxCycle.
I have sent out 8 signature requests and received all them back and the system updated the transmit signature confirmation without any issue.

I live in a rural area with a lot of senior clients all concerned with leaving their homes right now and they greatly appreciated being able to provide a digital signature.

Thank You TaxCycle Team!

I’m a little frustrated that I haven’t received the push for the Docusign update. Taxcycle is showing my version is current, but it is one down from 4/02 release. Likely just down the list in the queue, so waiting patiently.

@gregory

It isn’t available yet as an auto update.
Cameron posted a link to the download earlier in this discussion topic.

@gregory – The auto update is coming, probably Monday since there have been no real issues reported so far.

This was a much bigger release than we normally do at this time of year, so we wanted to give the keeners a few days to play with it before we forced in onto everyone.

I was unable to get the update to work. Had someone on helpline try but he couldn’t fix it, said he would get another more experienced person to contact me, never heard back.

@fabien
thank you for your info. When you say per seat do you mean per person?
Also if something happens and you have to reprint the t183 again. Is their any issues?
Also can you save their signed documents on your own computer?
I hope my questions are understandable.

Fabien I just went on the website if I am on the correct site and they only have monthly fees and are very high. So thank you for your suggestion. I think I am going to stick with adobe

Noted. Thank you.

We are not censoring you. Maybe try a different browser??

I took a look at integrating TaxCycle with Right Signature, but their pricing is not good with respect to integrations. According to their website, to use integrations with applications like TaxCycle, Right Signature requires you to get a minimum 3 user plan which is $60 per month.

With regards your PIN idea, I suggest that you use something other than the last 4 digits of the SIN, since those are the digits that CRA actually prints on all the correspondence they send you. The most secure choice is probably digits 2 through 5 of the SIN, but that may be too complicated to explain…

This is what I did:

  1. Sign up for a 30-day free DocuSign account
  2. Near the end of 30-day free account go to the Taxcycle or QBO DocuSign offer page
  3. When you purchase a discounted plan, you are given the opportunity to log into your free account so you will not lose access to previously signed documents.

This will switch your free DocuSign account to a discount paid account. This gives you the opportunity to put it to the test and learn how the integration works with Taxcycle for a full 30 days before laying out a single dollar.

Looking forward to it Cameron, thanks to you and the team for making this year awesome. Now if Intuit would pull their thumbs, people forced to use profile at work might actually be productive.

LOL, @David_R_Officer … I guess that would be me …
I’ve had my share of headaches with Profile this tax season which has brought me to explore TaxCycle in prep for next year. But probably the biggest thing taking me away from being productive this tax season is the time I’m spending following this TaxCycle forum! Our own Profile discussion group is great in the way we all help each other out, but this TaxCycle forum is phenomenal. What a great community! You’ve all won my heart … :green_heart:

I think I have a touch of OCD… so I still carry a full subscription to both TaxCycle and Profile. :upside_down_face:

You want to talk about strange… I complete each and every T1 return using both pieces of software. AFR and Efiling through TaxCycle and manually entering tax slips into Profile as a double check that everything has been entered and calculated correctly in TaxCycle. We aim for a 0% error rate. :slightly_smiling_face:

I consider TaxCycle to be our main tax preparation software, and use it for all filing. Profile is really just used as a double checking mechanism. Spoken from someone who continues to use both applications heavily on a daily basis… there is no comparison anymore. TaxCycle runs circles around Profile now. The differences really become clear when you see how each software handles (or doesn’t handle) certain items.

Good point about the SIN. We’ll think of something else… first four digits of SIN? DoB? Street address? something like that that’s private, but readily accessible by us and the client. The good thing is that you can put a prompt/question along with the PIN, so something like digit 2 to 5 of SIN would still be workable.

Regarding integration, my point was that I don’t feel RightSignature needs anything else (in terms of direct integration with TaxCycle) to be a great workflow. As it is, it’s barely any more steps than the DocuSign integration to send off the document for signature. And because we use Sharefile, it’s actually less steps to access/save a copy of the signed documents because the signed copy is automatically saved in the secure portal where both our team and the client can access it.

@snoplowguy … I’m amazed you pay for two software licenses. Wow. That goes way above and beyond. I’ve worked in adolescent psychiatry for 32 years with many people who suffer from OCD. If this is as bad as it gets for you, hey, consider yourself lucky, LOL. I do a lot of manual checks and use spreadsheets extensively to validate data. I use other tax software when I don’t like how Profile deals with a situation and need a comparison. That’s when I get trial licenses for other products, and even try the free products on the market to validate what Profile is doing. I test drove TaxCycle a couple years ago, but it was very busy in the tax season and I didn’t have enough time to really play with it before the licence expired.

One of my biggest frustrations with Profile is the reluctance to have multiple forms for the T777 and the GST370. Why they insist on merging all employers onto one form is beyond me. Several years back, I received an advanced ruling from CRA on the GST370 where they agreed that the intention of the wording in the legislation is that you can submit as many GST370 forms as necessary when filing your original tax return. The intention of the wording is to stop people from submitting adjustments throughout the year. Profile doesn’t seem to get that despite my argument that it’s not right to merge several employers GST rebates onto one businesses GST number! It forces me to enter the data for one business, print the form, erase the form, enter the 2nd business, print the form, erase the form, etc, then merge them all together onto one form. This way the client has a separation in event CRA asks to see it. I can’t remember how TaxCycle deals with this but I’ve tested Dr. Tax and they support multiple forms for both T777 and GST370.

I’m just realizing that NONE of this conversation applies to the DocuSign topic. Sorry folks. I digressed.

Yes, per seat is per person. I think you can install the Sharefile software suite on at least 2 machine per person.

No issue with having to reprint and resend a document per se. You get a dashboard showing all the documents out for signature, and you can recall/cancel them.

Yes, if you don’t have Sharefile, you can still download all the documents to your own computer. If you have Sharefile, you have the option of using it only in the cloud or syncing it to your computer as well. Note that Sharefile supports ā€œFiles on Demandā€ synching, so you don’t have to worry about it using up all your computer’s memory.

We also used to be on Adobe Pro DC, but found it was getting too expensive. The Adobe Signature part of it worked great though, so I can see how it’s now worth setting something else up.

Again, one of the huge advantages for us is that we also use Sharefile as a secure portal for our clients, and RightSignature saves us a lot of steps by having the signed documents automatically saved to the portal we share with client.

I know from prior years how much request an accountant can get for the last year or two of tax returns everytime a client wants to apply for financing or some other programs. With the CERB application be only available through CRA My Business and My Service Canada account, I’ve know other accountants have had dozens of request for the 2018 return because providing line 236, or something like that, is part of the registration requirement for those accounts. With our clients’ return going on the portal, they can just access them whenever they need.

Hope this helps,
