Doc u Sign

First four digits of SIN is too easy to guess. Everyone my age who got their SIN in Calgary has the same first four digits…

The DocuSign is working well as intended for the T183, AuthRep, and even Engagement Letters. I packaged the T183 with the T1032 and the T1032 did not come back signed. Was that an issue from my clients or not?

@ryan

The T1032 is not yet on our list of supported forms for e-Signature. It will come in a week or so.

The good news is that CRA does not require a signed T1032 when you efile. Our reps and CRA tell us that a signed T183 is all you need.

Regardless, we know that preparers like to have this signed as well, so we will support it. We just couldn’t do it in the first release because that form requires two signatures, not one. Most of the work is done on our end, we just need some time to test and refine it, which we expect will be sometime around the 14th.

That’s what I was thinking. Whether the trial DocuSign account could be rolled over with the QBO offer later on. I will be doing the same now.

Do you know if the QBO DocuSign offer allows you to purchase multiple accounts (for others in the firm) at the same discount?

Just want to warn people that CRA does review T1032s for signatures and to make sure you have a copy for each spouse. I have had it happen and then had my hand slapped for having only one copy signed. My theory is that if something has a signature line on it, it gets signed.

Yes, you can purchase up to 3 licenses online and receive the discount for each. You will have to call them if you want more licenses.

@mgbtax … I phoned the e-file help desk today and spoke anonymously looking for clarity on using electronic signatures. I also asked for clarity if e-signatures were accepted on the T1032, to which the agent replied, “not yet”. The agent added to just make sure that the couple signs their forms stating that the only time these forms are reviewed is in situations of pre and post assessment reviews.
I’m curious about your experience with being reviewed for the T1032’s - did they ask you to submit forms for several clients and perhaps going back up to 6 years ago, or was it all from the recently filed tax year for a specific client involved in a pre or post assessment review?

The review happened a few years ago in a post assessment review and it was only for one client. I had to submit the forms and I only had one copy signed by both spouses. I haven’t had any requests since but I make sure to get both copies signed now.

This confirms what the agent told me. Good having validation. Thanks.

Are we allowed to use electronic signatures for the other forms?

https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/campaigns/covid-19-update/covid-19-electronic-signatures.html

" Effective immediately, the CRA will recognize electronic signatures as having met the signature requirements of the Income Tax Act. This temporary measure will reduce the necessity for taxpayers and tax preparers to meet in person and will reduce administrative burden during this difficult time.

This provision applies to authorization forms T183 or T183CORP, which are forms that are signed in person by millions of Canadians every year to authorize tax preparers to file taxes."

No mention of other forms on the CRA posting that you put up.

Which is my question, it is nice that CRA is allowing electronic signatures; however, it appears that only the T183 and T183 Corp are eligible for such treatment

Yup, me too. Dropped Profile like a hot potato. It’s slow and counter-productive
