I’m looking for some recommendations for a calendar/to-do list.
I currently have about 15 bookkeeping clients with different dates for HST returns, payroll remittance, year-ends, etc. I would like a to-do list that keeps me in line with all the due dates. I know I can put it on a calendar and they pop-up, but I still seem to miss some. I have it pop on the 28th for HST returns, but if I get busy and don’t see the pop-up it gets missed. Is there an app out there that will keep things on the list until they’ve been checked off?
I just use Google Calendar. You can set it so that an item on the calendar is a “task”, which means it will remain outstanding until you check that it’s done.
Google Calendar can be a limited ClientTrack. You setup Tasks with a date/time and you can indicate that these tasks are recurring. Google Calendar doesn’t give you the choice of reminding you of these tasks ahead of time but there are Chrome extensions available that increase the efficiency of Google Calendar and Google Tasks (GQueues is one example).
I use recurring tasks in Outlook, along with an add-in called Taskline (taskline.com). This add-in allows me to automatically schedule my tasks into my available time slots in my Outlook calendar. If I do not mark a task as completed, it automatically gets rescheduled for the next day. Taskline will also notify me if I am about to miss a task-specific deadline.
I’ve been using “AnyTime Organizer Deluxe” (by Individual Software) for about 20 years. Whereas it’s not perfect, I like it very much and use it daily.
I believe there is a 30-Day free trial available.
I would suggest going into your Settings, find “Client Manager”, and make sure it is Running, as new updates sometimes disables it. You may have to re-configure it and rebuild your index as well. There is a help video on this topic if you need additional support.
