CAIP Fix

Known Issue: S14 and Client Letters Show CAI Estimate for Spouse

In version 11.1.46179.0, the T1 client (CLetter) and joint client (JLetter) letters display the Climate Action Incentive (CAI) paragraph for both the principal taxpayer and spouse when they should not. This only occurs in files that have a qualified dependant .

This happens because the spouse’s CAI estimate on Schedule 14 (S14) includes the amount for qualified dependants when it should not.

Workaround

To correct the display of the amount in the letters, override the estimated climate action incentive for 2022-23 (line 9) to zero, in the spouse’s return . Or wait to print client letters until we correct this issue.

Anticipated Resolution

We are investigating the issue and will update this post with the timing of an anticipated fix as soon as possible.

I may be wrong but I don’t think it is calculating correctly for shared custody situations as well.

Did this problem creep in again in a recent release?

I have an Alberta couple with two kids and it is displaying for both taxpayers?

I have the same issue but not on all returns. I copy the sentence from the CAIP form that only one will be getting it depending which one is assessed first and wait for the next update…

Yes back again will be fixed Monday should be a release!!!
