Maybe someone from TC can chime in to see if this is possible to set up or in future release.
In the default Cover Letter,
“On your federal tax return, you owe $XXX.XX payable to the Receiver General immediately.” however this ONLY includes the current year taxes. Is it possible to have the default cover letter show:
On your federal tax return, you owe $YYY.YY payable to the Receiver General immediately. Of Which $xxx.xx is from your 2022 tax return and zzz.zz is prior account balance.
Also, setting to have auto save (every 1 min, every 30 secs, ever “X” Secs or “X” mins, where the user then pick interval?
If it’s possible for TaxCycle to get that balance from AFR or something, yes - that would be handy. Otherwise, it’s not much harder to manually edit the cover letter for whatever you want to say.
The AFR worksheet includes a field where you can manually enter the account balance (this is not available through AFR) and the Client Data Enquiry (CDE) includes an amount that is updated through AFR for debt to CRA but includes more that just the tax balances. What is the experience with the debt to CRA amounts? Which number would you prefer to see in the client letter?
I’ve been happy that the letter automatically includes a notification paragraph when the client has a debt owing to CRA. If you can add the debt amount from the CDE, that would be great, for me. But, I don’t think that’s what @asifnana wants. So, maybe wait for a few others to give their opinions.
Like this: “On your federal tax return, you owe $YYY.YY payable to the Receiver General immediately. Of Which $xxx.xx is from your 2022 tax return and $zzz.zz is prior account balance.” would be good. Just those totals.
Yes I agree but this honestly ONLY works for clients ONLY filing the current year taxes now that I think about it, clients filing multiple years the AFR would not update live for the prior years just called minutes ago.
