I attempted to file a T5 slip this morning via T5 transmit and navigated to an error 503 CRA page that says the service is unavailable until today at 6 am EST. It’s 840am and should work.
Hi there,
We are looking into the issue to see what is happening!
Thanks
Aaron
Ditto here.
The CRA site seems ready when I access directly.
Is the software not talking wll with the CRA?
Getting the same result for T5018 slips that were due by December 31st (June 30th year end).
-
Canada Post on Strike most of December
-
T-slip internet filing service disconnected from December 2nd until January 13th (maybe?)
-
Penalty for not filing the slips online.
I guess the late filing penalty is cheaper than the fine for not filing online (when online filing is not available during the month of December.
Thank you all, we have our eyes on this, there seems to be a change on the CRA site as the issue with filling does seem to be site related at this time.
We are actively monitoring the situation.
Thanks
Aaron
Not down for me. LOL
We’ve posted a known issue with steps for the workaround to upload the xml directly:
I must be a dolt.
The method doesn’t seem to work for me. I have intentionally masked the first digits of the client’s BN to attach the screenshot here but the CRA doesn’t seem to like the file name. Not sure which character is invalid.
I was successful with the work around on the one submission.
The method I used was browsing to the location to attach in case that was somehow different than what you were doing.
Although I wasn’t comfortable enough to proceed any further (meaning I didn’t actually transmit the xml file), I believe I have identified the offending character. My business name has a & sign (ampersand character) in the middle of it.
It looks like when you drag and drop, or attach the file manually by clicking on its location the website/system must parse your XML file for lets say syntax or structure errors.
I was able to go into the XML file with a text editor and replace the & in my business name with and. Now instead of getting an “invalid character in entity name” the file turned green and it looks like it will upload.
I have never experienced this before when transmitting slips through the software, and I’m not sure the answer is to manually change my business name in order to upload T5018 slips.
Wondering if editing my business name in an xml file will cause other issues? Not terribly comfortable doing that, and wondering why (after all these years) is my business name now offensive with the CRA.
What is the approximate date of the next TaxCycle update?
I was curious as well… running workarounds is not a great idea for those of us who are Not “Technical Wizards”
Scare the heck out of me.
Was quite disappointed I didn’t wake up to one this morning.
There were significant changes to the slips upload process on the CRA’s end which is requiring our slips update that went out last week to undergo changes to account for the new CRA process, when we know when the release will go out, I will provide the community with an update.
