This is a pet-peeve of mine: TaxCycle automatically transfers tuition from a student to the parent with higher income. That’s fine most of the time, but soemtimes parents (for their own GOOD reasons) want the tuition transferred to the other parent. This isn’t easy in TaxCycle because it cannot be done in Optimizations - - you have to go to the DepCredSum worksheet (I need to relearn this process every year). On the DepCredSum, you have to OVERRIDE the default parent. I hate creating Overrides, and cannot undestand why the choice is not available in Optimizations. I have complained about this before (I’m sorry if you’re getting tired of my whining). I wish something could be done about this…

We have the same frustration in our office. A few of the partners will simply disconnect the returns and complete the transfer manually.
Yes, this… many good reasons to have other parent claim… should be simplier than overrides every where
