The program automatically saves after filing which is why you do not get the normal status change. It was done that way to avoid the situation that you file the return and then close without saving the confirmation number etc in error. Since I so not use the statuses in my office , I am happy the way it works now myself.
Print options: I would like to be able to do a print job that has no documents, but only an email from my templates. In some steps of my workflow, I would like to send an email only, no docs attached, but it’s currently not possible. Print templates only works when attachments are available.
Also, would like to be able to do a print job - email to be sent to both spouses.
Client Manager: be able to update workflow without oppening the taxcycle file. (i.e. documents received, letter signed, etc.) Also, having DocuSign status updated in Client Manager - again without oppening the file - would be great. Allow for better realtime update of client’s status.
DoxCycle: some boxes do not post to taxcycle but OCR still adds them to listing. When posting, getting error message. This is annoying as we have to undo posting, delete box from list and re-post the slip.
DoxCycle: this year, some clients have scanned their documents and sent them in (due to COVID-19). Some medical expenses and donations were scanned on the same page. Would be great if we could attach 2 or more posting windows for one document.
The first one you can do already…
Click the envelope to the right of any item in the correspondence section…
For the NAICS search, pressing F6 on the NAICS field gives you a pretty detailed search.
Also, I note that if you follow the link you have provided you’ll get codes that CRA does not recognize and will give you an error when you try to efile.
Our search includes only the fields that CRA accepts…
I use the email template quite often and it works great.
Yes!! This!! (there is a workaround, though only partial as one can simply add another “element” and amount…but one loses the title of the doc. Numerous people scan Rx receipts - can fit about 6 to a page…
I like the Window Snipping tool which allows you to take a virtual picture of either or both.
I drop each into ABBYY FineReader 12 Sprint (which came with my scanner but can be purchased separately) to convert them back to pdf files.
For those who send their doc in a picture format, I do the same.
Very small thing but it would be nice if when using a tape to add things up you could exit from the tape with the “tab” key. Especially on the medical expense worksheet.

Re NAICS search
I am aware of the built-in TaxCycle NAICS search list.
While this list provides us with a full list of all the available and valid codes the search function is very limited and not very friendly. Very often I want to drill down based on the first three and then the first four digits and drill down until I get the best match. That is the reason for requesting a link to the external site to be embedded into TaxCycle.
Alternately I could continue to maintain my parallel T1 workflow system that exists outside of TaxCycle in which I maintain amongst other things the two links to the NAICS list.
Each time I find a tool within TaxCycle that helps me to complete my tax returns better or faster, I am happy.
Each time I use I tool within TaxCycle that is awkward, hard to use, or completely ineffective, I groan inside.
The NAICS tool has been such a persistent cause for groans that I generally just bypass it while feeling somewhat frustrated for what I consider to be a missed opportunity with an easy fix. Add an external link.
This is mostly the fault of the NAICS system to me…it’s basically useless for small businesses, especially those in niche areas (which is generally the case). I usually choose some random assortment of “other” categories for them as I don’t have too many clients operating, say, mines.
And, for that matter, it’s just a generic classification code…
¯_(ツ)_/¯
I agree. I have never been challenged by CRA for a more descriptive classification code. I can usually find something close or I can use one of the “other” codes available.
Today, after printing a husband/wife tax return, when I went to close it, I got three choices, SAVE, CLOSE WITHOUT SAVING, CANCEL. By mistake I hit the second choice. PLEASE, PLEASE, when making that choice, give us a warning - something like ARE YOU SURE?
