T2 Legislated Filing Deadline

TaxCycle is telling me the filing deadline for a December 31,2023 year-end was July 1, 2024. But am I correct in thinking it should be July 2, 2024? Canada Day is on the list of holidays recognized by CRA.

From CRA’s website:

When a filing due date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or public holiday recognized by the CRA, your return is considered on time if the CRA receives it or if it is postmarked on or before the next business day.

And Canada Day is listed as one of the public holiday’s recognized by the CRA.

I agree with you, @jeremy1. You can turn off the penalty calculation on the “Interest” screen. Still, the program should know that July 1 was not a “business day”.

Thanks Kevin. Yes I agree. I had to override it, which is annoying but I’m glad I didn’t misadvise my one last client who we filed this morning.
