Slip filing - crosscheck

So, every year I do a quick (or not!) x-check at the end of slip season to make sure everything got filed and recorded properly.

So this year we got the “submission confirmation” at the time of submission…and TC would not copy it automagically back into the file. I keep an Excel sheet of each confirm/date/time in a cell, and then pasted the same - but only the confirm # into the TC “Record the submission number” box.

Then, of course, as the filer, I received the email confirmation from CRA separtely.

This year for the first time ever, I see two identical submission numbers - albeit with different times…stored in TC.

Given that they were filed today, I’m unable (yet) to confirm ACTUAL filing at CRA, but this is what happens when automated systems we rely on…fail.

Not a happy camper with the QC…and I DO understand that the mess originated with CRA.

Are you saying that you copy-paste the transmission number in TaxCycle? If so, that suggests the possibility that you accidentally pasted a previous transmission number.

Of course…I’m aware of that…but I had no choice but that TC refused to do it at all - as it always has in the past. Have never had to do that or think about it.

Also noticed that the emails from CRA are … not fun … to trace back to “which file” they belong.

Moot now…but what a CF it’s been this year so far. Can’t wait to see why they do as an encore for March and April!

Don’t you mean March, April and May? T3 slips have a May 1 filing deadline, so some may be in client mailboxes mid-May. Hopefully, CRA will post the T3s promptly. Of course, there will be before and after June 25 slips based on Schedule 3 posted on CRA’s site yesterday.
