I’m a student using Tax Cycle for a training course, my assignment requires me to fill out information for three dependants, and the Dependant worksheets were filled out with no issue. But when I try to fill out Schedule 5, I get an error sound every time I press a key, I don’t know what I’m missing here
Right click on the TaxCycle icon on the task bar. There might be another window open.
Or use [Alt-Tab] to cycle through all open windows/programs - you might find a message box that was hiding behind another window, which needs you to respond.
Or try closing TaxCycle from the task bar - it should prompt you to save the file. Then re-open it and see if the problem disappears.
If nothing works, you might have a corrupt file - reboot, create a new T1 from scratch, or maybe even reinstall TaxCycle (if necessary).
Odds are the reason you’re getting error sounds when you try to enter something on Schedule 5 is because the majority of the info that’s supposed to be on that schedule is pulled from the dependant worksheet(s). When you try to fill it out, you’re actually overriding things (I would guess anything you enter there is also showing up in red).
You wouldn’t typically need to enter anything manually on S5 - just on the worksheet.
If Schedule 5 is not pulling the info from the dependant worksheet, you’ll want to take a closer look at your worksheet to make sure the proper options/amounts are selected. If it’s still not working properly, contact TaxCycle directly to find out why. Or as @Nezzer suggested, try reinstalling TaxCycle.
