I have a client who is an Australian who was here on a work visa. His job disappeared with the Covid lockdowns and so he returned to Australia at the end of November. He has no other income in 2020 other than from Canada.
When using another tax software I had no trouble eFiling the return. TaxCycle says it needs to be paper-filed.
Have the rules changed since tax year 2017 or am I not inputting the information correctly.

The rules haven’t changed.
"In addition, you cannot file a return electronically in any of the following situations:
… 6. The taxpayer is … a non-resident."
