I apologize because I know this is probably super obvious, but my searches in the archives here and on the TC website haven’t helped.
I’m very new to TC as an admin and I’m missing something in the email process. I’m able to generate the pdf email, which opened in the Windows Mail app. I wasn’t using this, but have connected the middleman to our web based email with no issues. However, there is no option to send the email TC generated.
Ok, so now I have figured out the above problem is that TC is only compatible with Outlook (which I hate and is expensive) instead of Mail (which is free and comes with Windows). I can get TC send emails, but for my business partner, it is using his personal email account not the business email. Our business email is his default in Outlook. When starting a new message from Outlook, it defaults to the business email.
How do I get TC choose the correct email account to send from?
I am sorry that you hate Desktop and/or Office 365 Outlook. It does require set-up and a fairly technical learning curve. I understand that it can seem overwhelming.
However, I would like you to consider this…
When I switched from a webmail to Desktop Outlook and OneNote in 2003 I ended up saving one hour or more per day. Now I estimate that it saves me two to three hours per day. I have four different webmails for which I use desktop MS Outlook, Calendar, and OneNote as my presentation layer. I can not even begin to imagine how I would function without it.
You can also use TaxCycle with emClient, which is available here:
I’ve tested it and it works. We are looking at some direct email integration with gmail but it will be a week or two before that happens, at the earliest.
I get that. I can see it’s utility. It is a good system if you want it. I’ve always used Libre and other such productivity tools so am entrenched in my own system, which works quite well.
However, my partner had an extra user profile from his personal 365 account, so I gave it a go. I had no problems setting it up on my system, but I was pulling my hair out trying to get it to work right on his. Since he already had his personal accounts set up, no matter what I tried, TC always sends from his personal email instead of the business one.
