DoxCycle Poll - Scanners in use

I am looking for some insight into a few things DoxCycle related and would appreciate your thoughts and feedback.

How do you scan to DoxCycle?
  • Twain compliant (direct scan from DoxCycle)
  • Monitored folders
  • ScanSnap (with work-around)
  • Other

If you are using a Twain compliant scanner with direct integration, please share your scanner make and model in the thread comments below.

I have 2 scanners I use. 1 is the Fujitsu ScanSnap ix500 which has a DoxCycle link and then I have a Brother ADS-3600W which scans directly from DoxCycle.

what does ā€˜monitored folders’ mean

It’s a setting in options to assign a folder that you scan to. DoxCycle will allow you to import and manage the scans saved to that folder.

can we dump misc crap that clients send us into that folder

Fujitsu fi-7160. Nice machines. Very fast, never a problem.

Had for a number of years now so likely not available anymore but likely a similar model available.

We use an Epson DS1630 and it works really well and FAST.

Brother ADS-2800W

I Scan direct from DoxCycle with HP Scanjet Pro 2500 f1.
I also use monitored folder for when I clients upload to my portal and it is downloaded to a folder on my hard drive.

Canon DR-C125 love it.

Scansnap on PC; transfer copy to a specific folder on remote Azure server. Import to DC. (I do not do ANY tax work on a local machine.)

The SINGLE BIGGEST PROBLEM is that DC does NOT retain the folder name from use to use and I have to browse to the import folder every single time. Fix this and I’m a happy camper.

Oh…and a setting to ā€œignore permanentlyā€ photos which don’t meet ā€œCRA standardsā€. Personally I don’t care…that’s their problem. (I did, once, look up those standards and they are SO dense as to be incomprehensible to a normal individual, so I simply ignore them. Reproducible and readable is fine.)

@SmallBizGuy Are you setting the folder path in the Options for the Shared folder and it is not sticking for you there or are you running into this in some other place?

This is the only place I could find:

I’ve used the same location for pretty much all the time I’ve had TC and I’ve had the same problem throughout.

@jimt Yes, you can drop other pdf docs into the monitored folder when you get them from your clients. Given that clients may not pay attention to the resolution and file size you will need to keep an eye on the files you are dropping in using this method to ensure that DoxCycle performance is not hindered.

Epson Workforce WF-5790 and HP Scanjet 3000 S2

I scan everything into DoxCycle that relates to a client file, that way if I need to access something it is all together with the TaxCycle file. My Fujitsu ScanSnap ix500 is older but still works great for any type of document.

We use our scansnap to scan to a folder on the pc and then we drag/drop/import from there. Unfortunately DoxCycle isn’t great at sorting or keeping things together so it take a lot of manual work and time to get a DoxCycle file correctly put together, labeled, etc

Thanks everyone for your participation in this DoxCycle poll. Your feedback is super helpful
