Date information received

I’m wondering why we apparently have two overlapping if not identical T1 items that function independently:

Engagement Information/Engagement: Date information received from client

Workflow/Preparation: Source documents received

It might save a few precious seconds of prep time if the latter could pick up the date from the former - or vice versa, if that would be easier to program.


I might add that the same applies to the due date of the return. Once TaxCycle knows whether or the client (or spouse or common-law partner) was self-employed, and if applicable, knows the date of death, it is a simple matter to calculate the due date of the return. Why am I entering the date on the engagement form manually and picking it from a calendar on the workflow form?
