Today I have gotten calls from two clients with foreign pensions split with spouse on 2023 returns. They have been filing with splitting the pension for years. Now CRA wants proof of their foreign pension income. Funny, they are happy to charge tax on income they have no record of, but want proof of same to split it. Anyone else get those calls yet?
Every year I get at least one. Reviews on the pension splitting and foreign pension are pretty common.
I have a client with a UK Teacher’s Pension. He brought his letter in last week. The due date is April 25th. It’s issued by the Matching Dept. Has no one told them that we’re a little freaking busy these days?
And yet when you send the response to the review, it will take them 6 months to process.
