Template Outline Panel Display

I’ve started using the new Template Outlines feature. I think it’s great so far. Just one annoying issue.

I’m not sure if I’m just missing a setting in my options somewhere that I haven’t turned on, but it would be even better if the letters that have outlines just showed the outline panel automatically. It’s a waste of time to have to show it every time I’m looking at the letter I need to customize it. The panel doesn’t take up much room, so having it default to show automatically would be ideal.

I’m sure not everyone would want to be forced to see it, so the option to chose the default setting would be best.

If this is already in the options and I just can’t find it, please point me to it.

Something else to consider would be the placement of the “Show/Hide” link. If the panel opens to the right, maybe the link should be on the right, so we don’t have to mouse to the left and then to the right customize the outline. If the link is on the same side, it will save just that extra millisecond of time going back and forth.

Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion @mel . I’ll see what we can do.

Maybe a choice for which side we would prefer the panel as well?

I am thinking I might prefer it on the left.

Maybe a “pin or hide” setup like we have for some other things.

Also I notice if you make other changes (manual overrides) the “manual override banner” covers over the “Hide/Show the outline” button and you are stuck with it in whatever position you were in unless you undo your manual overrides.

Again I really like this addition just a few tweaks to get it perfect.

We are going to add this option to default the template outlines to open:
