Would anybody know the taxation on things are going on the island people are collecting bottles from sources and selling 10c per bottle. They use this money donate to people in need for food and shelters. This individual earned nearly $30K by selling bottles.
I would imagine that kind of thing would be the same as any other business income - if you are doing it to make money, it’s a business. On the other hand, if someone set up a non-profit group where the members collect bottles, and donate the proceeds to people in need, there would likely be no tax - but they would still have to file the appropriate returns with CRA (T2, T1044, T3010, etc as applicable).
