Statement of Qualifying Retroactive Lump-Sum Payment T1198

As per Taxcycle, a return with T1198 must be paper filed.

I found in my search that this is the first year a return with T1198 can be e-filed.
"You are eligible for a special tax calculation when you file your 2024 income tax and benefit return. You will need to get Form T1198 or a letter containing equivalent information from your employer. Starting this year, you can submit your return electronically if you are reporting a QRLSP."

I have three clients with T1198.

Newest version has the ability to EFile a return with a T1198 included.

Can you re-file 2024 to include the T1198 if you already filed for the year without it?

Hello,

I filed a return today with a T1198. For the first time ever.

There was no indication in the Taxcycle for an update.
Thanks for letting me know.

I filed with a T1198 on Friday and got back the NOA instantly. Taxpayer refund was properly calculated and is a pleasant surprise for the client.

Thank you.

Super dumb question, but I can I ask HOW you actually filled this in with Taxcycle. I have a letter from my clients employer with all of the relevant T1198 info on it…are you manually retyping this into Taxcycle to fill in the T1198 schedule and submitting it that way? Or is there some other schedule I’m not seeing?

You manually enter the numbers on the T1198 form.

Use form T1198 to enter the amounts as in the letter and you file it as normal.

Thanks all!

I efiled one yesterday without any problems.

Ever get an answer to this question?

Someone else posted a similar thread after mine - if you increase income by $1 it will accept a refile for T1198. It won’t without the $1 change because it does not recognize a change worthy of a re-file.
